NCT Conservatory Student Wins Scholarship!

Congrats to Emily Gardenhire for winning the Artist of Tomorrow (AOT) Scholarship - she was one of five students to receive the award. Each will receive $1,000 college scholarships and she won for theatre/musical theatre.

She will be recognized at the Pieces of Gold ceremony on March 10th. For more information on this program, please click here. AOT Scholarships are supported soley through generous local contributions.

NCT Conservatory Artistic Director Ray Walker says, "Emily Gardenhire was one of my very first voice students. She has studied with me for 6 years and in that time has become an integral part of the NCT Conservatory student body. She is an absolute shining example to all other students. We are so proud that her hard work and perseverance has paid off in such a wonderful way."

Plays that really worked

The News & Observer published an article entitled "Plays that really worked" and our production of Yeston & Kopit's Phantom was among the ten chosen for 2008! Orla Swift and Roy Dicks wrote "Compassion is director Casey Hushion's hallmark, and the heart pounded loudly in this tale of deformity, artistry and love...if it weren't for enterprising companies like NC Theatre, the power of Leroux's tale might have never been fully tapped."

Casey is our interim artistic director and will also be the director on Disney's High School Musical 2 this summer! We are excited to have her as a part of the NCT family!

WRAL Anchor Valonda Calloway Learns to Fly!

On Tuesday, July 15th, WRAL Anchor Valonda Calloway came to the theatre to interview Gail Bianchi, who is starring as Peter Pan in the production. She met with Alex Thompson from ZFX, Inc. and several members of our production crew and got some tips on how to fly. They harnessed her up, did a few test flights and then she got to fly through the window just like Gail does in the show!
